Our "Create Your Own Story" camps offer opportunities for theatrical exploration and creative collaboration. Students write and perform their own plays in small groups, guided by teaching artists experienced in storytelling and performance. Each week has a broad theme that ties the short plays together. Campers will also play theatre games, try improv activities, learn physical and vocal warm-ups, and work on developing their acting skills. Each week ends with a Friday afternoon performance of the three short plays students have worked together to create! --- Our elementary-age camps run Monday through Friday each week, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Optional extended care is available from 8:30-9:30 a.m..) Camper Ages: Our youth summer camps are for students who have completed first through sixth grades in May 2025. While most students will be ages 7-12, we understand about summer birthdays! We will accept registrations for 6-year-olds who have completed first grade. Students will begin and end the camp day as a large group with warm-ups and theatre games, then work in small groups with their peers to rehearse their scripts and develop performance skills.
Camp Location: All elementary camps willl take place at Calvary Church, 1320 Arapahoe Street in Golden. For most camp weeks, the final Friday-afternoon performances will be held at Miners Alley Performing Arts Center, 1101 Miners Alley, in Golden. (This performance venue is walking distance from the church. Families who register will be sent specific details about the final performance location each week.)
Camp Food: All students are asked to bring a morning snack, their own packed lunches, and a water bottle. If we have students in a given camp week with severe allergies, we may request that lunches and snacks be nut-free, and we will notify families in advance of the camp.
Our camps fill quickly and have limited enrollment. Once a camp has filled for an age group, you can complete the registration form and be added to the waitlist.
Please contact Miners Alley Playhouse if you have any questions.
