Program description:
In this production camp, young performers will work with professional teaching artists to rehearse and perform a full musical production in just one week! We provide the scripts, music, sets, props, and directors. Participants will work on acting, storytelling, music, and movement through the staging process, while developing listening and communication skills. Cast members will also complete visual art projects that will appear in the show. The week will end with two performances for friends and families, one at the end of the camp day on Friday afternoon, and one on Saturday morning. All students must attend both performances. No previous performance experience is necessary!
What is the musical "The Armstrongs’ Arctic Adventure" about?
This summer, join the Armstrong family's big adventure! Dr. and Mr. Armstrong, and their three children Grace, Annika, and Oscar, are moving to Greenland. In this musical play for young actors, the family will make new friends, learn new languages, experience new cultures, and learn about Arctic animals and environmental resources.
Camper ages:
This musical production camp is for students who have completed first through sixth grades in May 2025. While most students will be ages 7-12, we understand about summer birthdays! We will accept registrations for 6-year-olds who have completed first grade. All students registered for this program will be cast in either named-character or ensemble roles.
Auditions:
Monday, June 23rd between 5 and 7 p.m.
All students who register for this camp will be asked to audition, in person, at Miners Alley Performing Arts Center on Monday, June 23rd. Students who cannot attend those auditions due to family scheduling conflicts will be asked to submit a brief video audition by 7 p.m. on Monday, June 23rd. Specific audition instructions, and materials to read for the audition, will be emailed to registered participants in mid-June. These auditions allow us to cast named-character and ensemble roles in advance, so that students can work on line memorization prior to the first day of camp.
Rehearsals:
Monday-Thursday, July 7-11, 1-5 p.m.;
Friday, July 12, 1-4 p.m.
Performances:
Friday, July 11 @ 4 p.m.
Saturday, July 12 @ 10 a.m. with strike and cast party following until noon
Cost: $375
Cast information:
