Curious about working behind the scenes? This two-week program is for students interested in stage design (set, lighting, sound, costume, and props), and backstage management. Registered students will be asked to complete a short interview prior to the class, so that we can match students with hands-on opportunities to fit their design and technical interests.
As we prepare for the "Madagascar KIDS" elementary production on June 26-27, Technical Theatre students will have hands-on opportunities to help create costumes and build props, and to contribute to lighting and sound design elements for the elementary musical camp shows.
In Week One, each day will focus on a different aspect of theatrical production and feature a different professional guest artist. Students will help with building costumes and props, and learn about lighting and sound design elements using professional technical equipment with supervision.
In Week Two, students will continue work on the technical and design elements of the production under the guidance of professional theatrical staff, and provide backstage crew support for the musical production running June 26-27. Scripts will be provided in advance to registered students. Please note: the Week Two class requires Saturday morning hours - all students will work backstage for both performances.
Teens may sign up for one or both weeks of the program. Registered students for both program weeks will receive a $50 tuition discount.
